How To Make A Minecraft Java Edition Server In 2022

The requirements mentioned above are adequate for the 1-4 players. If you're interested in creating your own server, this article is for you on Minecraft Wiki.

Once you've met the requirements follow this step-by step guide to set up a server:

#1 - Download the server.jar

Download the server.jar file from Minecraft's official website. The server.jar file is available on the official Minecraft website. After downloading, make sure the file name is minecraft_server.1.XX.X.jar, where XX.X is the version.

Create a folder titled "Minecraft Server" to store server-related files.

#2 - Open command prompt

The next step is to open the command prompt. Find the command prompt on the start menu. Enter "java-version" to confirm whether Java is installed or not.

Change your directory to the "Minecraft Server" folder, which contains the Jar file. Copy the address from the file manager, and then type "cd" to copy the address of the folder. Hit Enter to change the directory to the server folder.

For example, cdC:\Users\Admin\Desktop\Minecraft Server

After changing the directory, type Java"-jar" or "name your jar".jar in the command prompt. Press Enter. It will show an error however there's no reason to worry about it.

#3 - Changes to Eula.txt and take note of query.port settings

After the jar has been run, a new text file with the name Eula will be created in the server folder. Open it in text editor and alter eula=false to eula=true and save.

A second file, dubbed "server.properties", can be found by players. It contains all the required information and settings like query.port and gamemode.

#4 The server is ready to go live

Enter the jar launch command again. The server should now be running without error. You can join the server by entering localhost or your public IP address into the IP address box. You can add ":25565" to the end of your public address to join the server.

Just share your IP address with trusted family members and friends. Do not share it with strangers as it could create security risks for your family and house. Interested readers can learn more about the process of setting up a server by clicking here.
